THERAPY for anxiety, trauma & relationships IN NYC

You know exactly why you feel this way.
So why hasn't knowing been enough to change it?

THERAPY FOR ANXIETY, TRAUMA AND RELATIONSHIPS IN NYC THAT HELPS YOU…

Finally exhale, and find your way back to yourself.

On the outside, everything looks fine. You show up, you get things done, you hold it together. But the tension in your body has become so familiar you've stopped noticing it, and the exhaustion that sleep doesn't fix keeps quietly growing.

This is a space to slow down, tune back in, and actually feel like yourself again.

If you’re looking for therapy for anxiety, trauma and relationships in NYC…
YOU MIGHT BE FEELING LIKE:

Hands reaching toward soft natural light through a window
  • You're doing everything you're "supposed" to, but on the inside, you still feel anxious, empty, or lost.

  • You want a therapist who actually understands the cultural context, including what it means to hold family loyalty and your own needs in the same hands, not one who just tells you to "set a boundary."

  • You've done a lot of reflection and maybe even tried therapy before. You understand where it comes from. But insight alone hasn't been enough to actually change things in your life.

  • Living only in your head has become the norm. You realize you're tense and your shoulders are all the way up to your ears only when someone points it out.

Hi, I’m Mandy, LCSW, LCAT, MT-BC
your Anxiety, Trauma and Relationship
Therapist in NYC

You might have found your way here because something isn't working anymore, even if you can't quite name what it is. You've been pushing through for so long it's become your normal. And somewhere along the way, you've lost touch with what you actually need.

I'm Mandy, a licensed clinical social worker and board-certified music therapist based in New York City. I work with adults across New York and New Jersey who are navigating anxiety, trauma, and the weight of relational patterns that were never really theirs to carry. My approach is culturally attuned, body/somatic-based, and grounded in the belief that healing isn't just cognitive. It lives in the whole of you.

Wherever you're starting from, there's a place for you here.

WHY THIS WORK MATTERS TO ME

For a long time, I thought understanding myself was enough.
I spent years in therapy building insight, learning to reframe my thoughts and to recognizing my patterns.
I could explain what my triggers were and I knew exactly what I was feeling and why.

But knowing wasn't the same as actually feeling it. When anxiety showed up in my body, it felt overwhelming and out of control.
My brain knew I was safe but my body didn't believe it.

Things started to shift once I learned to bridge the gap between knowing something and actually feeling it, sitting with it instead of intellectualizing my way past it. Gradually, my relationship with myself and with others began to change.

That gap between the head and the heart is exactly what I help my clients with now.

How is Therapy for Anxiety, Trauma & Relationships in NYC With Me Different?

Sunlight streaming through a window, casting shadows on a beige wall with a display of various potted green houseplants, a round woven rug on the floor.

Most therapy stays in the head.
Sessions here go beyond talking about what happened and how you feel.

We slow down and listen to what your body has already been carrying.

  • The tightness that settles in your chest before a hard conversation

  • The stomach that drops the moment you see who's calling

  • The jaw you've been clenching for so long, relaxed feels foreign now

A lot of this work leads back to younger versions of you: the parts that learned to stay small, to adapt, to earn their place.

We work with those parts directly, rather than just talking about them, so that
change is something you actually feel, not just something you understand.

What People Are Saying

  • "Mandy gently guides you to find your conclusions yourself. She reminds you that you actually have the tools you need, you just don't realize it or know how to access it. I've very much appreciated her guidance in that way because breakthroughts feel much more empowering and gratifying when you reach them. Additionally, I'd say that Mandy being a third-culture child like me has helped tremendously in our sessions. As an Asian-American child of immigrants that grew up in the US, there are so many nuances to our experiences that sometimes only another person who grew up like that would understand. I appreciate that I don't have to spend so much of my time trying to have another person understand that experience because it helps me feel seen and understood more fully.”

    - S

  • "Working with Mandy has been transformative. Mandy just gets me. I feel like she's a true confidant who has helped me navigate through life, relationships, and insecurity. I appreciate her warmness and thoughtful questions, and I feel like I can share my inner self and struggles with her. Whatever issue I talk about with Mandy, what has been most helpful is how she asks me to identify and confront my feelings. I appreciate that she doesn't judge me for my feelings. Rather she helps me think of productive ways of responding to them. Ultimately, what has been most meaningful is feeling like I'm not alone in navigating through life."

    — J

  • “My experience working with Mandy has been an exceptional journey grounded in self-reflection and realization. My original intent starting therapy was to better manage my anxiety and OCD tendencies, but I've gained way more through our time together unpacking and processing many things from my childhood that impact me now as an adult"

    - S

  • "Mandy has been such a helpful constant in my life, aiding me in processing big life changes like leaving a job I was unhappy with and planning a wedding. I learned how to dig beneath the surface and figure out what was really going on with my emotions and deal with them accordingly. Some of the most meaningful work we did together was being able to peel away the layers and name what it is I'm feeling. Mandy also was supportive in helping me figure out ways I can show up most authentically as myself. "

    — CE

  • “The most meaningful aspect of working with Mandy was how practical and compassionate she is. Mandy offered coping tools that were useful immediately, while offering different perspectives to exist at even 0.1% and gave me time to and space to process them. One major shift was allowing myself to fully acknowledge my pain instead of minimizing or intellectualizing it. Feeling genuinely heard and validated by Mandy created space for change.”

    — AJ

  • Before seeing Mandy, I had never been to therapy and was very unsure if it was the right choice for me. However, our sessions reassured me that I was in a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where I could speak freely. Her willingness to give me the space to fully express my thoughts and feelings, combined with her clear and objective third-party insights, helped me view my concerns in new ways and encouraged accountability in how I respond to them moving forward.

    Music Therapy

Music therapy brings sound into the therapeutic process as a way to access, express, and process emotions that words can't always reach. No musical background needed: if music has ever made you feel something, you already have everything you need to begin.

01. Book a free consultation call
Start with a free 15-minute call where you can ask any questions you have about the process and we can get a sense of whether we're a good fit. No pressure, no commitment. You can reach out by clicking the button below or anywhere on the site.

02. We find a time that works
If it feels right, we'll sort out the logistics together, including finding a weekly time that fits your schedule. Consistency is important in this kind of work, and meeting weekly gives you the support and momentum to make real progress.

03. The work begins!
In our sessions we go beyond insight. Most change stays intellectual until the body catches up. We work with both: what your mind understands and what your body is still bracing for, using EMDR, parts work, and somatic awareness so that change is felt, not just understood.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • My fee is $225 per 45-minute session. I work on a private pay basis, which means I don't bill insurance directly. However, I can provide a monthly superbill for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Many clients with PPO or POS plans receive 60-80% back. I'm happy to help you understand your benefits before we get started.

  • I am an out-of-network provider in New York and New Jersey. Working outside of insurance allows us to keep your care fully confidential, set our own pace without session limits, and focus on what's actually useful for you rather than what a diagnosis requires. If you have out-of-network benefits, a superbill makes it straightforward to seek reimbursement.

  • The first step is booking a free 15-minute consultation call. It's a chance to share what's bringing you in, ask any questions you have, and get a feel for whether we're a good fit. You can book directly by clicking any of the consultation buttons on the site.

  • Sessions are 45 minutes and we meet weekly. Consistency matters in this kind of work, and meeting weekly gives you the continuity and momentum to make real progress rather than spending each session catching up.

  • The first session is less about diving into the deep end and more about getting oriented together. We'll go over what brought you in, what you're hoping to get out of therapy, and start to get a sense of each other. There's no pressure to have it all figured out before you walk in.

  • Yes, all sessions are virtual. I offer online therapy to adults throughout New York and New Jersey, including Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Hoboken, and Jersey City. Virtual sessions are conducted via a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform and are available Monday through Friday.
